Direct and manage technology and network services including telecommunications, audio/visual, video surveillance, and computer operations within the District’s communications and computer infrastructure. Will be responsible for project management and technical support to all District facilities and the entire networking services. Ensure security and optimal performance of the District’s wide-area and local-area networks through analysis and design of the networks and other hardware.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Certification:

Master’s Degree with emphasis in Computer Science or related field preferred.

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer/ or CISCO Certified preferred.

                       

Preferred:

Experience with multiple computer operating systems; network design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair; electronic mail; software and hardware productivity; software development in various languages; develop and implement policy; support of student and financial systems.

 

Experience:

Three (3) years of experience with management and coordination/network support personnel preferred.

Experience in managing budget processes and in managing personnel.

Experience in developing system plans, standards and documentation.

 

 

            Special Knowledge/Skills:

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

            Technology and Information Management

 

  1. Assist schools and administrative departments to develop and implement plans to address technology needs, including evaluation of hardware and software and management of demographic data, and budgetary information.

 

  1. Develop, implement and review the District’s standards and specifications for hardware and software use.

 

  1. Develop, implement and continue to evaluate the District-wide computer-networking plan.

 

  1. Research and provide guidance in the selection of computer equipment, software and materials for administrative data processing at campuses and departments.

 

  1. Coordinate support between the education service center and District staff, including programming, application support, and end-user support.

 

  1. Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of all instructional computer hardware and software throughout the District.

 

  1. Provide staff development to campus and district personnel in the effective use of software and hardware technology.

 

  1. Develop and implement a disaster recovery plan.

 

  1. Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of instructional technology services and implement changes based on the findings.

 

  1. Develop, implement, and maintain the District’s web site and evaluate further web applications.

 

  1. Assist in the search, development and implementation of the District Technology Plan.

 

  1. Coordinate the development, review and implementation of the District Technology Plan.

 

  1. Knowledgeable on E-Rate and ESSA.

 

  1. Posting Notices on KISD Website and social media.

 

  1. Distribution of district wide ROBO Calls.

 

Policy, Reports, and Law

 

  1. Implement the policies established by Federal and State Law, State Board of Education rule, and Local Board Policy in the area of technology.

 

  1. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

 

  1. Administer all aspects of E-Rate Funding.

 

Budget and Inventory

 

  1. Compile budget and cost estimates based upon documented program’s needs.

 

  1. Research and assist with the bidding process, purchase, distribution, installation of hardware, software and other technological equipment and materials in accordance with budgetary limitations and District policies.

 

  1. Approve and forward department invoices and purchase orders to accounting department.

 

  1. Recommend the disposal and replacement of obsolete equipment when necessary.

 

Personnel Management

 

  1. Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.

  1. Serve as a positive role model and work cooperatively with others in designing and promoting a quality program, which integrates technology in the administrative and instructional process.

  1. Articulate the district’s mission and goals in the area of technology to all department employees to ensure the realization of the mission.

 

  1. Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.

 

  1. Evaluate the technicians’ job performance to ensure effectiveness in the technology department.

 

  1. Recruit, train, and supervise personnel and make sound recommendations relative to personnel placement, transfer, retention, and dismissal.

 

  1. Attend professional growth activities to keep abreast of innovations in information management and technology services.

 

  1. Oversees and Evaluates the Public Relations Specialist.

 

  1. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
