The Bus Monitor shall ride buses and assist driver to provide safe and orderly transportation of students with disabilities.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 The Bus Monitor shall:

  1. Be 18 years or older.
  2. High School or GED Diploma is preferred.
  3. Be physically able to perform the required duties.
  4. Be able to follow verbal instructions,
  5. Be able to operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment, and,
  6. Be able to work well with children with disabilities.
  7. Drive/transport students in non-CDL district vehicles as needed.

 RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 Assist in loading and unloading of students with disabilities according to their individual needs.

 Maintain discipline and report student discipline problems to the appropriate administrator.

 Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student’s special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.

Communicate with teachers and parents on a daily basis about student behavior while on the bus.

Maintain records of daily attendance.

Assist with keeping the school bus clean and sanitized.

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Maintain emotional control, ability to communicate effectively, ability to maintain effective control over groups of students.

 

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Continual sitting, reaching and repetitive hand and arm motions.  Work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes.
