Description

Completes maintenance carpentry projects assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. High School Graduate or hold a GED Certificate.
  2. Experience in the repair of buildings, furniture, cabinet making, repair maintenance of all doors and windows.
  3. Have an acceptable driving record to standards developed by the Department of public Safety and the Texas Education Agency (10 point system).

 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

 

  1. High School Graduate or hold a GED certificate or have experience in the field of work.
  2. Experience in the repair of building floors, cabinet making, repair and maintenance of all doors and windows.
  3. Experience and certification in the proper care and removal of asbestos containing material in flooring materials and disposal.
  4. Have an acceptable driving record to standards developed by the Department of public Safety and the Texas Education Agency (10 point system).

 

 

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

           

  1. Ability to install and repair carpet, ability to lay floor tile and install formica.
  2. Ability to install ceramic and other tiles and install all necessary as required.
  3. Ability to supervise employees assigned.

 

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

  1. Will be responsible for all the installation of flooring and tile materials in District facilities.
  2. Obtain certification for legal removal of all asbestos containing materials in flooring materials.
  3. Will provide quantity and job estimates for all flooring projects to be done in-house.
  4. Keep an inventory of assigned tools, vehicles and building supplies.
  5. To maintain safety standards when operating equipment.
  6. To work cooperatively with other departments in maintaining school properties.
  7. To requisition and order, in the proper manner, necessary supplies and materials.
  8. Assist carpenter when needed.
  9. Perform other job-related duties and functions assigned by supervisor.

 

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

           

            Uses power tools, hand tools, air tools, step ladders, jack hammers, shovel, scaffolds,        dollies, airlift ladder.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

            Physical Demands:

            Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing, heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, some          stooping, bending, kneeling.

 

            Environment:

            Work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust,            toxic chemicals and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on ladders.
