Description

Perform on-site technical work to install and maintain computer hardware, peripherals, network equipment, and software applications throughout the district.  Respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing computer hardware, peripherals, and network equipment.  Facilitate the effective use of technology throughout the district.  Provide technical support in the use of hardware and software throughout the district.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:

High school diploma or GED.

Associate’s degree in computer science or electronics is preferred.

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of computer workstation setup.

Ability to install, maintain, and repair computers and peripherals.

Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.

Ability to analyze and resolve computer hardware, peripheral, and software problems.

Knowledge of technologies available for use in instructional setting.

Ability to repair computer and technology equipment.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

 

Experience:

Two years technical support experience with preferred experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing computers and peripherals.

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:  

 

            Technical Support

  1. Provide technical assistance to campus faculty and staff for use of equipment including computer hardware, peripherals, and software.
  2. Provide immediate on-site assistance to campus staff with technology problems and questions.
  3. Act as liaison with district technology personnel
  4. Maintain computers in campus lab(s) and classrooms and arrange for needed repairs.
  5. Perform upgrades to computers, peripherals, and software.
  6. Assist with the organization and distribution of technology materials for classroom use.

 

Installation

  1. Install and upgrade computers and peripherals throughout the district.
  2. Ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair network cabling and network equipment throughout the district.
  3. Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed.
  4. Install and configure district approved and licensed software as needed.

 

Equipment Repair and Maintenance

  1. Diagnose and repair computer hardware and peripherals.
  2. Service equipment according to established preventive maintenance schedule.
  3. Maintain accurate updated records of preventive maintenance.
  4. Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.

 

Inventory

  1. Maintain accurate inventory of hardware, software, and peripherals throughout the district.
  2. Identify, request, and control the inventory of repair parts.

 

Safety

  1. Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
  2. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing and carrying.
  3. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.

 

Other

  1. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  2. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  3. Comply with all district and campus routines, and regulations.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

 

Equipment Used:

 

Computers, peripherals, networking tools and small hand tools.

Frequent district-wide travel; repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computers; lifting of heavy equipment (50 lbs).
